Building Tools for Thought
Building Tools for Thought
Hey there! ๐ I'm passionate about creating tools that help people think better and work smarter. Over the past few years, I've had the joy of building 50+ plugins for Obsidian, and it's been incredible to see them grow to over 3,000 stars on GitHub. Here's what I love working with:
- Full-stack development - I get excited about TypeScript, React, and Node.js (and sometimes Rust when building the backend for my plugins)
- LLM magic - Building cool stuff with Agents Framework and other LLM tools
- Obsidian ecosystem - Contributing to the tools we use every day
- Developer experience - Making Next.js apps that developers actually enjoy using
Why I Do What I Do
Someone may feel quite puzzled when they see me building plugins for Obsidian. And most of them are free. Why?
You know what makes me really happy? Seeing how tools like Obsidian-Thino (1.1kโ ) and Canvas MindMap (301โ ) help people work better. I believe in:
- Making things that surprise and delight users
- Keeping it simple (because life's complicated enough!)
- Writing code that I'm proud to share (Haha, I'm not proud of all of them)
- Growing together with an amazing open source community/or our users
Some Things I think are cool
Task Progress Bar (114โ )
Remember those satisfying progress bars in games? I brought that feeling to task management, mixing React dashboards with Obsidian's markdown magic.
Daily Notes Editor (203โ )
Ever wished your journal could sync in real-time with your brain? This comes pretty close, thanks to some CRDT wizardry.
Canvas Presentation (80โ )
Just like PPT in infinite canvas.
What I've Learned Along the Way
-
Keep It Simple, Really
My tiny plugin New Bullet With Time (34โ ) taught me that sometimes the smallest tools make the biggest difference. -
Listen to Your Users
Float Search (161โ ) became what it is today because of 40+ conversations with users. They're the real MVPs!
What's Cooking?
I'm currently tinkering with some exciting ideas:
- Teaching AI to be your personal note-taking buddy
- Building knowledge graphs that work like your brain does
- Making some cool stuff with the Agents Framework
- Getting plugins to play nice together (like a well-orchestrated band!)
Want to join me in making knowledge work more fun and effective? Let's build something awesome together! ๐
